Peter Marinakis, PhD, MAc, LAc, Dipl. CH., MD State Board of Acupuncture

Peter is a cofounder of Full Circle Healing Arts and holds a Master of Acupuncture Degree from the Traditional Acupuncture Institute where he is a senior faculty member. He also earned a PhD in clinical psychology. He is the founder and first clinical director of the Community Health Initiative (CHI), at one time operating community health sites with the City of Baltimore and Johns Hopkins Hospital. He is past president of the American Association of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (AAAOM); past president of the Maryland Acupuncture Society (MAS); past commissioner for the National Accreditation Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (ACCOM) and a certified trainer for the National Association of Detox Acupuncture (NADA). Peter was recently honored by being elected to a four year term on the Maryland State Board of Acupuncture.  Here, he will work with other elected acupuncturists to ensure the licensure and regulation of all Maryland practitioners.

Peter has a long history in the healthcare field spanning some three decades. Before starting his practice in Oriental Medicine in the mid 1980s, he was a clinical psychologist in private practice. As a psychologist he also worked with the Department of Commerce, the Department of Justice, Bethesda Naval Hospital and the National Institutes of Health, to name a few, all in the capacity of consultant in the fields of addiction, organizational development, clinical rehabilitation, personality development, and family, individual and group therapy.

In his practice at Full Circle Healing Arts, Peter especially loves working with children and seniors. His reputation as a knowledgeable and compassionate practitioner is only surpassed by his ability to get to the “heart of the matter” with each of his patients. While he brings extensive experience and insight to his intellectual endeavors of teaching, lecturing, and community wellness, his favorite place to be is working in the garden and spending time with his wife and two daughters.



Clemency Knox, MAc, LAc

Licensed Acupuncturist, Chinese Herbal Medicine

Clem is cofounder of Full Circle Healing Arts and holds a Master of Acupuncture degree from the Traditional Acupuncture Institute in Columbia, Maryland, where she also completed the NCCA program in Chinese herbal medicine. Clem was an assistant faculty at the Institute and a guest lecturer at the Maryland Institute of Traditional Chinese Medicine. She helped open and was a supervisor at the Community Health Initiative, (CHI), a Baltimore community based acupuncture detox and wellness program founded by the school in conjunction with John Hopkins. She is a NADA (National Association of Detox Acupuncture) practitioner and supervisor. She has also served on the board of the Maryland Acupuncture Society.

Clem has always held an interest in natural health and is a life-long student of yoga, tai chi and qi gong. Throughout her twenty years of acupuncture practice, she has cultivated her intuition and sensitivity, which she combines with professional knowledge and skills to affect the greatest outcome of healing. She firmly believes there is no condition that Chinese medicine cannot address and is continually amazed and humbled by the scope of its reach. She is a compassionate listener and encourages her patients to embrace a healthy lifestyle including proper nutrition, positive thoughts, loving relationships, affirming work and gentle exercise. In addition to her regular practice, Clem specializes in Facial Rejuvenation Acupuncture and is a student of Matrix Energetics.

Clem shares her life and work with her husband and cofounder of Full Circle, Peter Marinakis, their two daughters and an assortment of animals.



Monna Laird, LAc, Dipl.Ac.,

Licensed Acupuncturist, Chinese Herbal Medicine

Monna has a BA from the University of Michigan and an MS in Oriental Medicine, acupuncture and Chinese herbology, from the Phoenix Institute of Herbal Medicine and Acupuncture in Phoenix, Arizona. Monna’s practice combines the best traditions of Chinese acupuncture and modern needleless techniques of electroacupuncture. With treatment, old patterns of body and mind are gently released, and clients report not only changes in physical symptoms, but improved emotional outlook.

Monna first experienced acupuncture in 1983 when she was a highly stressed young mother and business owner with chronic pain. Over the next few years acupuncture treatments were an important part of restoring her health and transforming her life. This journey led her to Arizona where she helped found the first Chinese Medicine school in the state, The Phoenix Institute of Herbal Medicine and Acupuncture. She worked for the school until moving to Annapolis in 2001. Monna has also been interested in the role of a healthy diet and medicinal herbs for healing since college. She uses these dietary insights in her practice and enjoys finding the most effective and appropriate herbal formulas for her clients.

Monna has a gentle, compassionate touch, and works well with sensitive clients and those who are new to acupuncture. She has a particular interest in women’s health issues. Working with fertility patients in all stages of the process from planning a pregnancy to providing support in medically assisted reproductive procedures is a special joy. Through acupuncture and Chinese herbal formulas, Monna assists women in finding effective solutions for dysfunctions of the menstrual cycle or premenstrual pain and discomfort. She also enjoys supporting women through the changes of the menopausal years.

Monna has extensive experience in microcurrent electroacupuncture for pain, injury, or chronic musculoskeletal conditions. Using a combination of microcurrent and traditional acupuncture, she frequently works with seniors to alleviate arthritic symptoms, stiffness and ease mobility.



Jonathan Bronson

Jonathan Bronson, MAc, LAc

Licensed Acupuncturist

Jonathan Bronson has held an interest in the healing arts of Asia for many years now. When Western Medicine alone could not provide the relief he was looking for, Eastern Medicine in the form of Acupuncture offered a compliment, which enhanced his well being immensely. In awe of that experience, he began studying the ancient arts of healing and martial strategy of the East. After graduating Magna Cum Laude from Ursinus College, and having been inducted into the Phi Beta Kappa national honors fraternity, Jonathan graduated from the Maryland University of Integrative Health with a Masters of Acupuncture. To deepen his knowledge Jonathan has spent significant time in Japan studying the finer points of his practices. Now, as a licensed practitioner of Acupuncture in Maryland, Jonathan’s aim is to help other people reclaim their natural equilibrium in a modern world.



Judy Brecka, BS, AA, CMT, CE

Licensed Massage Therapist

Judy is a nationally and state Licensed Massage, Reiki Master/Teacher and Certified Esthetitian. She earned her BS in Sociology and her AA in Education and worked in the public domain for 32 years. In 2000 she was licensed as a massage therapist and Esthetician. With continuing studies in holistic healing, she became a Reiki Master/Teacher holding classes at Full Circle Healing Arts. Her specialties include Swedish, myofacial release, deep tissue, pregnancy and European hot stone massage. Combining her skills in these areas, Judy can customize a massage or Reiki protocol to meet your personal medical, emotional or spiritual needs.

Martha J. Chalmers, MD

Family Medicine Physician

Martha is a Board Certified Family Medicine Physician. She graduated from the George Washington University School of Medicine and completed a Family Medicine Residency as well as an OB/GYN Fellowship at the University of Rochester in New York. In addition to her experience in providing thoughtful and personal comprehensive care for all ages, Dr. Chalmers has had many years experience as an Emergency Room attending physician and as the primary provider at Planned Parenthood of Maryland. She enjoys clinical teaching and mentoring students who are exploring an interest in medicine, maintaining contact with several students who have gone on to medical school and advanced nursing degrees.

Dr. Chalmers earned a BA magna cum laude in Environmental Design from the School of Architecture at SUNY Buffalo and was admitted into Phi Beta Kappa. Before her career change to medicine, she was a consultant in architectural planning and programming for projects in Canada and the eastern US. Beyond valued time with two grown sons and her larger family, she continues to have a strong interest in the creative: design, architecture, construction, and garden design, and always keeps several projects in the works. She also enjoys the loving company of her nine-year-old dog Bess, who acts like a toddler but thinks the cat is her puppy.




Don Firmani, LCSW-C, LCSW

Licensed Clinical Social Worker

Don has been practicing psychotherapy since 1992 primarily with adults, couples, adolescents, and families, since completing his Masters of Social Work (MSW) at The Catholic University of America. Don also completed the Certificate Program for Children and Adolescent Treatment at the University of Maryland School of Social Work, and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) training for treatment of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and anxiety at EMDR of Greater Washington. He has studied in The Pastoral Counseling CAS Program at Loyola University in Maryland and is currently working towards his licensure as an Auricular Detoxification Specialist.

Don retired in 2007 from a 35 year career as owner/manager of Northeast Iron Works in Washington, DC, and now enjoys devoting more time to his psychotherapy practice at Catholic Charities, Arlington and private practice in Silver Spring, Columbia, and Annapolis, MD. He has a particular in interest in the spiritual aspects of therapy, trauma survivors, addiction recovery, and couples treatment. Don relaxes by swimming, kayaking, cycling, and cooking, and treasures his time with his wife and family. He is a doting grandfather and has a very energetic Airedale Terrier who walks him daily.



Diane Saccoccio, LCSW-C

Licensed Clinical Social Worker

Diane is a licensed clinical social worker who provides a range of mental health services to adults, couples, and families. She spent several years in community mental health prior to coming to Full Circle in 2013. She has experience in treating a wide range of mental health disorders. Diane received her Master’s degree (MSW) from the University of Maryland School of Social Work. Her post-graduate advanced training is in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) from the founders of CBT at the Beck Institute in Philadelphia. In addition to CBT, Diane completed Level 1, 2, & 3 training at the Gottman Institute and is currently pursuing the final phase of Gottman certification in an effort to strengthen and share her skills with couples in need of improving their relationship. Sheryl is a self-employed, Microsoft Certified Network Consultant with 25 years experience working with small businesses and medical practices. She has used infrared technology in commercial projects for many years and has now combined her passion for health and wellness with this very powerful technology by gaining certification as a Medical Thermographer.

Sheryl was trained and certified by William C. Amalu, DC, DABT, DIACT, FIAT, and President of the International Academy of Thermology (IACT). The IACT is a non-profit organization dedicated to research, education and the establishment of standards and guidelines in clinical thermography.
